A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

E-On!

Got this idea to start the fic from my friend, Yuri. This story is based loosely (real loose) on the game ECO. I took some of my friends' characters and "anime-fied" them so that the could fit. As for the ideas, I got some from ff. net.
Reviews and critics are always welcomed. Flames will be used to burn cyber marshmallows.
Happy Reading!

E-On!

Chapter 1: Prologue

The sound of a popular J-pop song rang out loudly from a small flip phone sitting on a hard wooden desk. Light vibrations made rattling sounds as it hummed on the smooth surface before slow moving hand found it and lightly flipped it open to cut off the sound.

Kagazumi Mizuno rose from the covers of the bed and lazily made her way to a sitting position. Waist length blue hair pooled around me as she rubbed her cerulean eyes and looked around the unfocused room. Confused at first, she looked at the calender by her bedside and noticed that the date was circled with red marker with the words 'school starts' written neatly in the square.
“Mizu! Hurry up! We don’t want to be late on the first day.”
Alarmed, the girl fumbled out the bed and made her way to the small closet on the other side of the messy room. “It’s this time already!? Why didn’t you wake me up sooner, nii-chan!?” She half-cried, voice muffled as she pulled off her pink pajama set and quickly donned on her uniform.
“I did! And you even said you’ll be changing soon. Have you been speaking out loud in your dreams again?”
“Of course not, nii-chan! I’m too old for that. I just…emm..decided to sleep a little bit more!” Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she gasped in horror as she saw that her hair was sticking out on its ends. Realizing she have no time to go search for a comb, she raked her fingers through her cyan locks in an effort to make it presentable.
Slamming open the door, she found her dark-haired brother leaning against the wall on the other side of the hallway. He was already dressed in his white shirt and black pants, looking calm and confident as always. In Kaito’s hand, he was holding a plate of toast.
“Here’s your breakfast. You’ll have to eat it on the way. I’ve already put your bag on the front porch.” Taking the proffered food gratefully, Mizuno leaned in to give her brother their customary peck in the cheek before letting him lead her out of the house.
--
On the backseat of the bicycle, she held Kai’s waist tightly as they both cruised down a slope. Her brother likes to go fast and he can be such an adrenaline junkie at times. Mizuno, however, does not share the same sentiment. Lazing around on her bed or dozing off at the kotatsu was much more her style. She should be grateful though. Kai always gets them on time to school with that crazy peddling of his.
"So," Kai spoke up over the wind. "New school. Think you'll be okay?"
"I'll be fine," Mizuno nodded to herself. "Rena and Takeru is going to be there with me…. I just hope we’ll get into the same class. I don’t know what I’ll do without them.”
"I guess that's okay. Don’t get your hopes too high though little sis. They could be assigned to a different class for all you know." Kai fliched as Mizuno smacked his back in protest. The bicycle wobbling uncontrollably, promised to deposit them harshly on the cold hard ground. Well, at least that would have been the case if Kai hadn't regained control of the bicycle just in time.
"Don't jinx it, nii-chan!"
"Anyway, making new friends is good for you."

“Well, easy for you to say, Mr. Popular.” Mizuno harrumphed . Kai laughed in response as he swerved over the corner causing Mizuno to yelp and curse loudly.
“Going to join any clubs?”
"Well…Rena said that she want to check out that light music club. I think I’m going to tag along with her" The cerulean haired girl thought aloud. "I don't know if I can make it or not abut it's worth a shot."
"Music seriously?" Kai laughed lightly. "Oh well, it’s better than doing nothing. Don't want you getting fat from all the cake you eat."
"Nii-chan no baka!" She slapped his arm and pouted up at him, ignoring his playful apologies.
--
The siblings soon found themselves at the front gate of Touhou Gakuen. “Well, nice school…”Mizuno spoke lightly as she observed it. Cherry blossom trees surrounded the walkway, giving the pavement nice sprinklings of pink petals. The gates were nice and clean with a hint of marble decorations. All in all the school looked fairly large. Four stories tall and several buildings in all directions. "I think I'll like it here." Looking around as she walked, Mizuno completely missed the girl walking in front of her. Within second, those two girls collided quite roughly against each other."Ahn!"
Both girls got tangled up in trying to not fall down and only succeeded in taking the other to the ground. "Ow," The girl rubbed her kneecap lightly before looking at the one who had just rammed her.
"Hello," Her brother laughed jovially behind her, offering a hand for both girls to stand up. “Sorry about her. She can be such a klutz at times." Kai’s laugh paused abruptly as the fallen girl reached his hand for support.
Light cherry hair fluttered gently in the wind as she let the boy pull her up, locking eyes all the while. Mizuno had never seen her brother act this way before and is eager to break the two apart "Are you all right?" Mizuno put a hand behind her head and laughed nervously.
The girl snapped out of her daze and quickly let go of Kai’s hand. Kai said nothing of her action and took a step away from the girl, averting his eyes to ground. The girl took a moment to compose herself before turning to smile politely at the cyan. "It’s okay." The girl smiled gently as she picked up her case as well and dusted it off. “Well... see you later...” With a small bow to her and a fleeting glance at Kai, she turned and continued along her way.
“What a strange girl…. She’s very pretty though.” Mizuno turned lightly on her feet as she faced her brother….only to find him still gazing at the distance like an idiot. “Nii-chan!!! Snap out of it already!”
“U-uh. Yeah….” The spiky haired boy nodded mutely, still quiet for some reason. “Here’s your bag. Try to be more careful next time.”
“Huh? That’s not mine! Mine is pink.” Mizuno looked into her briefcase and gasped lightly when she pulled out a notebook that wasn't hers. Curious, she flipped onto the first page and spotted an elegant name written on the top right corner of the book. “Chi…zuru?”
“It must be that girl’s.” Kai looked at the swarm of students in front of him, trying to spot amaranth pink hair in the crowds. “Well, looks like its too late now. We’ll try to find her at lunch time.”
Mizuno nodded and gazed at the school before her,” I have a feeling that this year is going to be interesting…” A light breeze blew around the two siblings, scattering petals all around them.
