Effervescent Saga: Ch00

Author: Alceus
Co-author: Lenneth
Story Type: On-going

Okay, Here I am, trying to make a fanfic based on an MMORPG called Emil Chronicle Online.
These characters are 'real' and can be found in Sakura Server of Indonesian ECO.
Disclaimer: The copyright holder for each character here is their own player, and the NPCs, of course belong the creator of ECO, Gung Ho

You can say this is my first time creating something like this, but I hope you can enjoy it. ^^
ps: I don't know what to use for the title, so I may change this after I find a more suitable one.

Chapter 0
Prologue

“This is..” A young man slowly opened his eyes. He rubbed his blond hair as he observed his surroundings. There he was standing on a barren land which skies are decorated with a sea of princely twinkling stars. The place was unfamiliar at best; it was highly unlikely that he had ever set foot on this land before. To make everything worse, his mind was blank. He couldn’t even remember anything about himself, aside from his own name.

 “Oh! You’re awake! That’s good!”

The man snapped in alarm as he turned to meet the source of the voice. ‘A sweet voice, like an angel….,’ is what he thought but what he didn’t think that he would meet a real angel, the one with authentic halo and wings on the back. He scrutinized the girl calmly before he finally mustered up the will to speak. “Alright. Please tell me what kind of dream is this? Or have I died and made my way to heaven?”

The girl frowned as she sat beside the man. “What are you talking about? Don’t you remember anything?”

“Umm.. nope.” The man answered assertively.  “So why don’t you explain it. At least about what I’m supposed to do in this dream. Will this something like those impossible yet achievable quest like they have in video games” he said excitedly.

“Will you please stop talking nonsense?! This is a serious matter!” The girl stood up and stared angrily at the man. Upon realizing that the man really did have no clue as to the reason he was here, the girl’s face softened. “Alright, I’ll tell you. You’re here—“

Suddenly a beam of light was shot right between the two, hitting a rock and crushing it into little pieces.
Although the shot have missed, the blonde-haired man knew for sure that if the beam had touched him, he would undoubtedly suffer the same fate as the rock. “This.. is no joke. Who is it?!”

Before he could do anything, the two realized that they’d been surrounded by hundreds—or maybe thousands humanoid machine, androids as they like to call it in those games. “What the—Just what are they?” he said as he stepped forward, trying to cover the girl.

The angel girl merely sighed, “DEMs.... They’re... enemy.”

“Enemy? What do you mean? What’s going on?” The man said with his eyes still locked on the androids, trying his best to keep his composure and refrain himself from bolting away from the scene when an opportunity shows.

“We have no time left.” The girl touched the man’s back. “Now listen. The land you’re going to go is called Acronia. You can’t do it alone, but there, you’ll find those who’ll help you for sure.” As he finished her words, the ground shone and covered the man with light.

“Hey! I don’t get it! Help me do what?!” The man shouted even louder after looking at the light which didn’t cover the girl like it did to him. “Wait! You’re going to come too, right?”

The angel girl shook her head. “We once tried to do it ourselves, but it ended disastrously. We can’t afford to make the same mistake twice. Our loss is too great. Our friend, as well as our leader, was mortally wounded in the battle. I used my last power to save him, but in exchange, I’m bound to this state. I can’t possibly be any use to you in this state..” she paused for a moment, “but if you meet him, I’m sure he’ll help you..” The girl shuffled her feet and casted her solemn eyes to the ground before continuing hesitantly,” Please tell him I miss him…”

The man, looking at the DEMs that were starting to move, realized that it’s pointless to talk any further.  The girl created a barrier to hold them, but he knew it wouldn’t last long. “I see.. At least tell me your name.”

The girl smiled, a smile that fit the description of an angel in a fairy tale. “Tita. And you?”

“Alceus.” The man pointed himself. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he receive your message.”

And with that, the man vanished along with the light, leaving the angel girl alone with the army of DEM.
